International Mobile Police Communications Squad

To secure the essential communications for the Japan Disaster Relief Team, the NPA has been selecting the members of the International Mobile Police Communications Squad from the police communications staff since January 2000. By receiving training periodically, the members of the Squad are ready to be sent overseas swiftly upon request. The members are responsible for info-communications measures including establishment of communications lines between the site and Japan or among on-site units.
The NPA has dispatched the members of the International Mobile Police Communications Squad to Saipan and Palau for imperial escort security, to Algeria, Morocco, Thailand, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nepal, and Mexico as members of the Japan Disaster Relief Team.
In September 2017, a huge earthquake hit Mexico. Two members of the Squad were sent as members of the Japan Disaster Relief Team and contributed to the search and rescue activities in the affected areas by installing/operating communications equipment. With an aim of responding at any time and under any circumstances, the International Mobile Police Communication Squad conducts domestic training in normal times, assuming a specific situation, as well as overseas training to gain more practical experience.
