The Training Center of Forensic Science has been operating since 1983 and providing new personnel as well as senior members of the Prefectural police criminal laboratories with basic education and training and with strategic technology for the practice of forensic science. The prime objective of the Center is to furnish the new staff with ample forensic science training and to give the experienced staff useful information that validates new and specialized techniques in physical evidence analysis.

Each course covers a variety of disciplines and techniques such as analysis of forensic DNA, forensic drug, fires and explosions, firearms and toolmarks, forensic engineering, document examination, polygraph examination, photography, fingerprint and footprint, and forensic statistics.
For the promotion of international exchange in forensic science information and technologies, training and research in the foreign country in the Research Course has been carried out since 1995.
