The main part starts here

Functions

In June 1967, the Institute was established in order to take charge of an advanced investigative training course, specifically arranged for participants to enhance expertise and develop managerial capabilities.

Qualification and Training Courses

A long-term course is held for approximately four months twice a year. The course is designed for police inspectors with sufficient investigative experience and deemed eligible for managerial positions at criminal investigation divisions in prefectural police headquarters.
In addition, a short-term course is held twice a year. In the course, participants are trained to be investigative leaders in the future. This short-term program began in 2006.

Curriculum

The curriculum of the long-term course includes expert lectures, domestic and overseas study-tours, and thesis presentations. It is also characterized by small-sized seminars, where instructors and participants take up actual criminal cases for discussions and work out solutions.
