Definitions 】

 
1 Traffic Accident
An accident, caused by vehicle or train traffic on a road (as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 1,
   ltem 1 of the Road Traffic Law), that results in death and/or injury to a person.

 

2 Fatality

A person who dies as a result of a traffic accident within 24 hours of its occurrence.

 

3 Serious injury

An injury resulting from a traffic accident and requiring medical treatment for a month

(30 days) or more.

 

4 Slight injury

An injury resulting from a traffic accident and requiring medical treatment for less than

    a month (30 days).

 

5 Injury

The total of serious injuries and slight injuries.

 

6 Fatality within 30 Days

A person who dies as a result of a traffic accident within 30 days of its occurrence

(counting the day the accident occurred as the first day).

 

7 30-Day Fatality

A person who dies as a result of a traffic accident between 24 hours and 30 days of its occurrence.

 

8 Primary Party

     The driver (whether vehicle or train) or pedestrian among those initially involved in the

   traffic accident who is most at fault or, when fault is shared equally, who is least injured.

 

9 Type of Accident

        Accident type categorized first by the parties involved  (people or vehicles) and then by their behavior

       (action, position, what was collided with).

 

10 Condition

The condition of the parties to the traffic accident at the time of its occurrence (Driver in a

    motor vehicle, passenger in a motor vehicle, walking ,etc.).Note that the wordridersis used

to describe the total of drivers and passengers.

 

11 Day

The period of time from sunrise to sunset.

 

12 Urban Area

        An area, urban in character, of which at least 80% is taken up by buildings (including their grounds)

and with a string of residences or businesses stretching along the road for at least 500 meters or so.
