Definitions

1. Traffic accident
 A road accident caused by a vehicle, streetcar or train on the roads prescribed in Article 2, Paragraph 1, ltem 1 of the Road Traffic Act.
2. Fatality
A fatality resulting from a traffic accident occurring within 24 hours of the accident.
3. Serious injury
An injury resulting from a traffic accident requiring medical treatment for 30 days or longer.
4. Slight injury
An injury resulting from a traffic accident requiring medical treatment for less than 30 days.
5. Injury
Serious injuries and slight injuries.
6. Fatality within 30 days
A fatality resulting from a traffic accident occurring within 30 days of the accident (counting the day the accident occurred as the first day).
7. 30-day fatality
A fatality resulting from a traffic accident within 24 hours to 30 days of the accident.
8. Primary party
The driver of an vehicle, streetcar or train or a pedestrian among those initially involved in the traffic accident who is most at fault or, when fault is shared equally, who is least seriously injured.
9. Type of accident
Accident type categorized first by the parties involved (people or vehicles) and then by their behavior (actions, positions, what was collided with).
10. Day
The period of time from sunrise to sunset.
11.Night
The period of time from sunset to sunrise.
12. Urban Area
An area, urban in character, in which at least 80% of the land is occupied by buildings (including the immediate surroundings of buildings) and in which a road is bordered by at least 500 meters of continuous residences or businesses.
