| | | Cyber Force (R&D system/resources for onsite activities) | | Research and Development System | | Correctly responding to high-tech crimes and cyber terrorism making use of the latest technologies requires a commitment to maintaining and improving our technical capabilities. This includes maintaining and improving the technologies we have built up to date, as well as actively adopting new technologies. In order to accomplish this, we have built a research-and-development system of an unprecedented scale, capable of working jointly with the civilian sector.
| | | This system allows us to research and develop essential basic network security technologies for countering a wide range of potential methods of attack, in a secure environment removed from the Internet. Our research and development is divided into 3 topics: vulnerability assessment, prevention and protection, and log integrity.
A research and development system has been set up for each of these topics. Each system contains a wide range of constituents, and by combining these constituents, it is possible to recreate any of a vast array of foreseeable situations. |
| | | | | Resources for Onsite Activities | | | In the event of an actual cyber-terrorist attack, it is necessary to act quickly on the affected computer systems, in order to prevent the damage from spreading and preserve evidence. Resources for onsite activities consist of the computers, analysis devices, and specialized vehicles necessary to respond to these incidents.
The computers and analysis devices include operating systems for supporting all currently foreseeable computer systems, as well as backup systems. The vehicles are equipped with onboard power generators, in order to enable action even where no source of power can be secured. | | |
