The rapid spread of the Internet has made services like email and home pages an integral part of our lives. But while the ultra-modern technologies used to make these services possible serve to make our lives more convenient, they also carry the risk of being used malevolently in unforeseen ways.

And now, our lives and society are being threatened increasingly by new types of high-tech crime and cyber terrorism. Here we showcase the Cyber Force, one of the National Police Agency's anti cyber-terrorism programs.

"Cyber Force" is a name given to the technical computer-security teams stationed throughout Japan, in order to support criminal investigations targeting potential future cyber terrorism and similar crimes.

The Cyber Force Center acts as the command center for the Cyber Force teams stationed throughout Japan. The Center monitors Internet security around the clock, collecting and analyzing relevant information. It is also equipped with facilities for a wide range of R&D, as well as personnel education and training.
